Pakistan to Host Date Palm Festival in 2024, Ambassador Tirmizi Announces


Abu Dhabi, Dr. Abdelouahhab Zaid, Secretary General of the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agriculture Innovation, met with Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s Envoy to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) today. The meeting focused on enhancing collaboration between Pakistan and the UAE to strengthen Pakistan’s capacity in date palm cultivation, production, and processing technology.



According to Press Information Department, the discussions included preparations for the upcoming Date Palm Festival in Pakistan, scheduled for the last quarter of 2024. The Secretary General reaffirmed the Khalifa Award’s support for the development and strengthening of the date palm cultivation sector in Pakistan.



Ambassador Tirmizi expressed appreciation for this support and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to collaborate on organizing the festival and implementing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two sides in February 2024. The MoU was signed by Pakistan’s Federal Ministry of National Food Security and Research and the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agriculture Innovation UAE.
