Pakistan to Deport Afghans Involved in Political Activities

Islamabad, Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti has declared a strict policy against Afghans living legally in Pakistan who engage in political activities. During a news conference in Islamabad, Bugti stated that any Afghan residents or refugees participating in political affairs would be deported. This decision aligns with the government’s stance that political activities in Pakistan are exclusively the right of its citizens.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Bugti revealed that ten individuals have already been identified under this policy and are in the process of being deported. The Interior Minister emphasized the importance of maintaining the sanctity of Pakistani politics, asserting that it is solely a matter for Pakistani nationals.

Addressing security for the upcoming general elections, Bugti assured the provision of paramilitary forces as requested by the Election Commission of Pakistan, highlighting the government’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful electoral process.

Responding to inquiries about the country’s repatriation plan, Bugti clarified that the policy is not specific to any one country and that it applies to all illegal foreigners, including Afghans. He reaffirmed that Pakistan welcomes anyone with valid documentation, emphasizing the nation’s open and welcoming stance towards legal visitors.

The Interior Minister also touched on the issue of identity theft, labeling it a serious crime. He informed that reforms have been initiated within the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to effectively address such issues and bring offenders to justice.
