Pakistan to Commemorate ‘Youm-e-Marka-e-Haq’ Annually for Military Triumph


ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has declared that May 10 will be celebrated annually as ‘Youm-e-Marka-e-Haq’ to honor the successful culmination of Operation Bunyan Al Marsoos. This day will pay tribute to Pakistan’s armed forces and their achievements, while also serving as a moment of national gratitude and solidarity.



The announcement was made during a statement where the prime minister emphasized the importance of acknowledging the professional capabilities of Pakistan’s military, which he said, have kept the nation proud. On the upcoming May 16, 2025, the country will observe a day dedicated to appreciating the armed forces’ accomplishments and offering prayers for national progress.



The prime minister also introduced comprehensive support packages for those affected by Indian attacks during Marka-e-Haq. Families of the martyred civilians will receive Rs 10 million, while injured civilians will be compensated with amounts ranging from Rs one million to two million.



For the families of martyred armed forces personnel, compensation will vary according to rank, with amounts ranging from Rs 10 million to Rs 18 million. Additionally, families will receive between Rs 19 million and Rs 42 million for housing, with continued salary benefits and free education for the children of martyrs until graduation.



Shehbaz Sharif also announced that one daughter of each martyr will receive a marriage grant of Rs one million. Injured military personnel will receive between Rs two million and five million. Further, the government will reconstruct homes and mosques damaged in the attacks and cover medical expenses for the injured.



The prime minister concluded that national recognition and awards will be given to those who have rendered significant services in defending Pakistan’s honor and dignity, underscoring the government’s commitment to supporting the families of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
