Pakistan to Boost Presence in UN Peacekeeping Missions

New York, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres at the UN headquarters to discuss the expansion of Pakistan’s role in UN peacekeeping operations.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during the meeting, the UN Secretary-General extended his best wishes to the people and government of Pakistan and agreed to an increase in the deployment of Pakistani personnel in peacekeeping missions. This enhancement comes after a significant period during which the deployment process had been stalled; however, it will now see 128 Pakistani police officers soon joining UN missions.

Additionally, discussions included the potential establishment of a United Nations Counter-Terrorism Force, with Minister Naqvi highlighting Pakistan’s substantial contributions and sacrifices in the war on terrorism and offering support for the new unit.
