Islamabad: Pakistan has secured significant leadership roles within the United Nations Security Council, marking a notable moment in the country’s ongoing fight against terrorism. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that Pakistan has been appointed as Chair of the Sanctions Committee, Vice Chair of the Counter-Terrorism Committee, and Co-Chair of the Informal Working Group on documentation and sanctions.
In a statement shared on the social media platform X, Sharif emphasized that these appointments reflect the international community’s confidence in Pakistan’s capabilities and dedication to counterterrorism. Pakistan has endured significant hardships due to terrorism, with over ninety thousand lives lost and economic damages exceeding 150 billion dollars. These staggering figures highlight the extent of the nation’s sacrifices in its fight against terrorism, according to the Prime Minister.
