Pakistan Supports Syria’s Path to Stabilization at United Nations

NEW YORK: Pakistan has expressed support for recent developments in Syria, emphasizing efforts towards the country’s stabilization and integration into the international community. This stance was articulated during a Security Council briefing at the United Nations.

According to Radio Pakistan, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Asim Iftikhar Ahmed, addressed the Council, strongly condemning Israel’s continued violations of Syrian sovereignty. These violations include military incursions, arbitrary arrests, and destruction of property and livelihoods, which Ahmed highlighted as significant concerns.

Furthermore, Ahmed criticized the recently announced five-year settlement expansion plan in the occupied Syrian Golan, labeling it as illegal under international law. This condemnation underscores Pakistan’s commitment to advocating for adherence to international legal standards and supporting Syria’s sovereignty.
