Pakistan Strongly Condemns Israeli Efforts to Dismantle UNRWA Operations.

United Nations: Pakistan has taken a firm stance at the United Nations by condemning Israel’s attempts to dismantle the operations of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). Pakistan has characterized these efforts as part of a broader genocidal campaign against Palestinians.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ambassador Usman Jadoon, the Acting Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations, addressed the UN General Assembly meeting. He criticized the Israeli parliament’s adoption of a law targeting UNRWA, calling it a clear violation of the UN Charter, international law, and provisional measures set by the International Court of Justice. Ambassador Jadoon emphasized that this move disregards the ICJ’s advisory opinion issued on July 19.

Ambassador Jadoon urged the international community, with particular emphasis on the UN Security Council, to hold Israel accountable for its actions. He stressed the importance of ensuring that UNRWA’s operations remain unimpeded, highlighting the necessity to cease the demonization and delegitimization of the agency.

The Ambassador further argued that targeting UNRWA not only hinders crucial humanitarian assistance but also undermines efforts to uphold the Palestinian people’s identity, rights, and aspirations for justice and peace. He proposed that certain critical steps be prioritized to ensure peace, uphold human rights, and enforce international law in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
