New York, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Munir Akram, spoke at the General Assembly’s Fourth Committee meeting, advocating for the rights of Palestinians to establish an independent and viable state within the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Aqsa Mosque as its capital.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting reports that Ambassador Akram emphasized the necessity of a ceasefire in Gaza amid ongoing hostilities. He criticized the sustained air strikes and ground invasion by Israel, despite the UN General Assembly’s calls for a humanitarian ceasefire. Akram accused Israel of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity with impunity, noting the thousands of Palestinians killed and injured, the majority being women and children. He affirmed Pakistan’s commitment to providing humanitarian aid to the besieged Palestinian people through Egypt and continuing its support for their cause.
