Islamabad, October 16, 2021 (PPI-OT):Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam Khan has said despite climate change impact, covid-19 and debt crisis, Pakistan has shown remarkable progress on the climate action that has been appreciated by the World Bank.
Addressing the national webinar, he said Pakistan has already reduced 20 percent of its carbon emissions and another 15 percent reduction is planned with the country’s own resources by 2030.
He said 35 percent may be reduced if Pakistan is provided financial support up to 100 billion dollars for major infrastructural development to enhance capacity of cleaner energy. During the webinar, the experts and civil society representatives mentioned that Pakistan government has set an ambitious Nationally Determined Contribution for the 26th Conference of Parties under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change being organized in Glasgow.
