Pakistan Showcases Investment Opportunities at 9th Belt and Road Initiative Summit in Hong Kong


Hong Kong: The Consulate General of Pakistan participated in the 9th Belt and Road Initiative Summit from September 11-12, 2024. The summit served as a platform for international cooperation and development, attracting stakeholders to explore partnership opportunities. Pakistan’s Consulate showcased the nation’s cultural heritage and economic prospects, emphasizing trade, investment, tourism, and cultural exchange.



According to Press Information Department, Ambassador Khalil Hashmi, Pakistan’s Top Envoy to China, addressed the summit on September 12. He discussed the strategic relevance of the Belt and Road Initiative for Pakistan and the pivotal role of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor in enhancing Pakistan’s investment landscape. Ambassador Hashmi noted, “With a $62 billion envisaged portfolio, CPEC stands as the flagship BRI project, bringing over 200,000 jobs and adding 8,000 MW of electricity to Pakistan’s power grid. The strategic development of 800 km of road networks and transmission lines speaks to Pakistan’s connectivity prowess.” The active involvement of the Consulate General at the summit underscores Pakistan’s commitment to bolstering regional cooperation and international partnerships under the Belt and Road framework.
