Pakistan Showcases Culture And Economic Potential At Expo 2025 Osaka National Day


Islamabad: Pakistan’s National Day celebrations at Expo 2025 Osaka, held from August 13-16, highlighted the nation’s cultural richness and economic prospects. A delegation led by Mr. Haroon Akhtar Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Industries and Production, and Mr. Abdul Hameed, Ambassador of Pakistan to Japan, represented Pakistan at the event. They were greeted by Japanese dignitaries including Mr. Hisayuki Fujii, State Minister for Foreign Affairs; Mr. Koji Haneda, Commissioner General; and Mr. Hiroyuki Ishige, Secretary General of the Japan Association for the 2025 World Expo.



The official ceremony on August 14 at the “Ray Garden” included a flag-raising ceremony and national anthem. Mr. Khan’s address emphasized Pakistan’s heritage, industrial advancement, and potential for global partnerships, highlighting Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s focus on innovation and sustainable expansion. Mr. Fujii congratulated Pakistan and praised the strong relationship between the two nations.



The Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) showcased folk dances from various regions, including a performance titled “Taxila Odyssey” celebrating the country’s Buddhist heritage. Patriotic melodies and a fashion display by Japanese designer Yuna Hattori, blending Japanese and Pakistani textiles, followed.



Mr. Khan addressed the media, outlining Pakistan’s export strengths and the Prime Minister’s vision for an industrial revolution and increased exports. He highlighted the government’s efforts to create an investor-friendly climate. The pavilion’s success in attracting over one million visitors was also acknowledged.



A booklet, “Pakistan – A Land of Endless Opportunities,” showcasing the nation’s trade potential, was launched and is accessible at www.pakistanexpo2025.com. Additional cultural performances, fashion shows, and a National Day Dinner rounded out the celebrations.



The Pakistan Pavilion, situated in the “Saving Lives” thematic area, has proven popular with visitors. Its theme, “The Universe in a Grain of Salt,” uses Pink Rock Salt to symbolize purity and a sustainable future.
