Pakistan Sets Deadline for Undocumented Foreign Nationals; Over 81,000 Afghans Repatriated

Islamabad, October 28, 2023: With just three days left in the government-imposed deadline, the push for the repatriation of undocumented foreign nationals, including Afghans, intensifies. By the end of this month, all undocumented foreigners are required to exit Pakistan, or they will face legal consequences as stipulated by the nation’s laws.

According to a news release by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the ongoing voluntary repatriation process has seen thousands of Afghans who were residing unlawfully in Pakistan returning to their homeland. To date, 81,974 illegal Afghan nationals have been successfully repatriated. Notably, just yesterday, 5,046 Afghans aboard 153 vehicles made their way back to Afghanistan.

The returning Afghans are primarily utilizing the Torkham and Chaman border points to re-enter their country. As the end of the month approaches, it remains crucial for undocumented individuals to heed the government’s directive to avoid any legal repercussions.
