BAKU: Pakistan has set an ambitious target to convert 30 percent of its vehicles to electric by 2030, as announced by Abdul Aleem Khan, the country’s Minister for Communications. The announcement was made during a session titled “Transport and Digital Middle Corridor and Beyond” at COP29 in Baku.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Aleem Khan highlighted the ongoing efforts to promote the use of electric vehicles in Pakistan. The minister noted that the government is actively pursuing infrastructure development to facilitate this transition, including the installation of charging stations across the country.

This initiative is part of a broader strategy to modernize Pakistan’s transportation sector and reduce its carbon footprint. The government sees the shift towards electric vehicles as a critical step in addressing environmental concerns and advancing sustainable development goals.
