Islamabad: Pakistan’s Senate marked the 75th anniversary of its diplomatic relations with China, emphasizing the enduring partnership characterized by mutual trust and shared objectives. The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister highlighted the significance of this relationship during a session attended by Chinese dignitaries, celebrating achievements such as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister praised China’s support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the One-China principle. He noted the importance of coordinated efforts at international forums like the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in advocating for developing nations’ interests. The CPEC was recognized as a transformative project under the Belt and Road Initiative, with future plans aiming at industrialization and socio-economic development in Pakistan.
The Deputy Prime Minister also stressed the role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening ties, citing the visit of Chinese official Cai Dafeng as a step towards deeper understanding between the two nations. He announced his upcoming visit to China with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, which will include high-level meetings and discussions on the Pakistan-China Political Parties Forum and CPEC Joint Consultative Mechanism.
Concluding his remarks, the Deputy Prime Minister extended congratulations to both nations on the anniversary and expressed optimism for continued collaboration towards regional peace and prosperity.
