Pakistan Seeks UN Intervention to Safeguard Islamic Sites in India

Islamabad, Pakistan has officially requested the intervention of the United Nations to protect Islamic sites in India, marking a significant diplomatic move amidst concerns over the preservation of cultural and religious heritage. This appeal was made through a letter sent to Miguel Angel Moratinos, the High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Munir Akram.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the letter highlights the demolition of a centuries-old mosque in New Delhi as a recent instance in what Pakistan describes as a concerning trend of targeting Islamic sites and heritage within India. Ambassador Akram’s communication with the UN official underscores the urgency and gravity of the situation, calling for immediate and effective international measures to ensure the protection of these significant cultural sites.

This move by Pakistan at the United Nations signals a call for global attention and action regarding the preservation of religious and cultural landmarks, emphasizing the need for international cooperation and intervention in safeguarding these sites against destruction and desecration.
