Pakistan Seeks to Boost Economic and Cultural Ties with Cote d’Ivoire


Islamabad, President Asif Ali Zardari has emphasized the significance of enhancing economic and cultural relations between Pakistan and Cote d’Ivoire, aiming to foster mutual benefits for both nations. This initiative was discussed during a meeting with Mahmood Akhtar Mahmood, the newly appointed Ambassador of Pakistan to Cote d’Ivoire, at Aiwan-e-Sadr.



According to Press Information Department, the President outlined the potential for increasing exports of key Pakistani commodities such as rice, medical and surgical equipment, pharmaceutical products, and sports goods to Cote d’Ivoire. He also highlighted the importance of developing cultural connections and people-to-people contacts to strengthen bilateral friendship.



During the meeting, President Zardari tasked Ambassador Mahmood with exploring new avenues to advance trade and economic relations with Cote d’Ivoire. The President’s directive underscores Pakistan’s commitment to building a robust partnership with Cote d’Ivoire, reflecting a broader strategy to enhance its diplomatic and economic footprint in Africa.



The engagement also served as an opportunity for President Zardari to formally congratulate Ambassador Mahmood on his appointment, expressing his best wishes for a successful tenure. The move signifies Pakistan’s proactive approach to reinforcing its international relationships, with a focus on economic diplomacy and cultural exchange.
