Pakistan Seeks Stronger Economic Ties with Turkey and Azerbaijan at COP 29


Baku: On the sidelines of COP 29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Communications, Privatization, and Board of Investment, Abdul Aleem Khan, engaged in strategic discussions with counterparts from Turkey and Azerbaijan to bolster economic and trade relations. The meetings aimed to explore investment opportunities and enhance bilateral cooperation across various sectors.



According to Press Information Department, Abdul Aleem Khan met with Turkish Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu to discuss the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and Turkey and to explore potential Turkish investments in Pakistan’s communications sector. He highlighted ongoing projects in the sector and extended an invitation for Turkish participation.



In a separate meeting with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Digital Development and Transport, Rashad Nabiyev, both sides acknowledged the significance of COP 29 in Baku and agreed to strengthen their bilateral ties. Khan noted the involvement of a considerable Pakistani community in Azerbaijan across sectors such as education, employment, and tourism, and expressed Pakistan’s interest in government-to-government engagements with Azerbaijan.



During his stay in Baku, Khan led the Pakistani delegation at the COP 29 Forum and participated in sessions focused on transport, digital development, and the Middle Corridor. He also represented Pakistan at the Inter-Ministerial Round Table Conference and met with Azerbaijani Energy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov to discuss investment and communication projects. The transport ministers from Turkey and Azerbaijan assured Pakistan of their support and cooperation in these endeavors.
