ISLAMABAD: Pakistan, Turkiye, and Saudi Arabia have signed the ‘Makkah Joint Defence Agreement’, a strategic pact aimed at fostering peace and stability in the region, according to Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar. The Agreement is open to other regional countries willing to align with its principles of peaceful conflict resolution.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Agreement aligns with Pakistan’s foreign policy, which emphasizes peaceful conflict resolution. Dar highlighted that the Agreement is the result of extensive discussions aimed at enhancing strategic cooperation to tackle regional peace and security challenges.

The accord stipulates that any external armed attack on one of the three signatory countries will be considered an attack on all, in line with Article 51 of the UN Charter. Dar assured that the Agreement does not replace existing bilateral or multilateral agreements and is purely defensive, aiming to bolster peace and prosperity efforts in the region.
