Pakistan Secures Influential Roles on UN Security Council Committees


Islamabad: Pakistan has secured significant roles on several subsidiary bodies of the United Nations Security Council, reflecting its active engagement and support for multilateralism within the UN framework.



In a notable appointment, Pakistan will serve as the Chair of the UN Security Council Committee responsible for monitoring sanctions against the Taliban. This position underscores Pakistan’s strategic role in addressing regional security challenges.



Additionally, Pakistan has been named Vice Chair of the Counter-Terrorism Committee. This committee is tasked with overseeing the implementation of resolutions concerning international counter-terrorism efforts, highlighting Pakistan’s commitment to global security initiatives.



Further enhancing its diplomatic stature, Pakistan has also been appointed as Co-Chair of the Security Council’s Informal Working Group on documentation and working methods. This appointment recognizes Pakistan’s contribution to improving the efficiency and transparency of the Security Council’s processes.
