Doha, Pakistan has made a significant stride in expanding job prospects for its citizens in Qatar, following a series of agreements and Letters of Intent (LOIs) signed with major Qatari companies. This development came during an official visit by Jawad Sohrab Malik, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (SAPM OP and HRD).
According to Press Information Department, these agreements with prominent Qatari firms, such as Qatari Diyar-Saudi Bin Laden Group Construction (QD-SBG), Hamad Bin Khaled Contracting Company W.L.L (HBK), and others, aim to substantially boost employment for Pakistanis in Qatar. SAPM Malik also engaged in a notable meeting with Mr. Hamad Saleh Al Qamra, Chairman of Al Qamra Holding, discussing the recruitment of Pakistani manpower for the company’s projects. Furthermore, a visit to the View Hospital, part of Elegancia Health Care, highlighted the ongoing recruitment of Pakistani health professionals following a recent MoU with Pakistan’s Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC).
The visit encompassed separate in-depth meetings with Qatar’s Labour, Interior, and Education Ministers, emphasizing the growing demand for skilled labor in various sectors in Qatar, especially in light of the country’s extensive infrastructural development. The CEOs of the Qatari companies expressed their satisfaction with the Pakistani workforce and a willingness to further increase their numbers, in compliance with Qatari governmental regulations. These agreements and discussions mark a vital step in bolstering the Pakistani presence in the Qatari labor market, fostering mutual economic growth and reinforcing the bilateral relationship between Pakistan and Qatar.
