Pakistan Secures $100M from Islamic Development Bank for Polio Eradication

Islamabad, Pakistan has obtained a significant financial boost in its fight against polio, with a support package of 100 million dollars from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB). This announcement was made by the caretaker minister for Health, Dr. Nadeem Jan, during his address at the ‘Reaching the Last Mile’ forum related to polio at COP-28 in the UAE.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Dr. Nadeem Jan highlighted the significant strides Pakistan has made towards eradicating polio. He emphasized that the government is fully committed to taking all necessary measures to ensure the complete eradication of this disease from the country.

The Minister also expressed special gratitude to the Islamic Development Bank, the United Arab Emirates, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for their substantial support in this crucial health initiative. Their assistance plays a pivotal role in bolstering Pakistan’s efforts to eliminate polio.
