Islamabad: Pakistan has expressed significant concern over what it described as unwarranted aggression by the Afghan Taliban and their affiliates along the Pak-Afghan border during the night of October 11-12, 2025. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that these actions are counterproductive to the spirit of peaceful coexistence and cooperation between the two nations.
In response to these attacks, Pakistan asserted its right to self-defense, successfully repelling the assaults and inflicting heavy losses on the Taliban forces and related groups. The Ministry noted that its military operations were conducted with precision to minimize collateral damage and protect civilian lives.
Emphasizing the importance of dialogue and diplomacy, Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a mutually beneficial relationship with Afghanistan. However, it warned that any further provocations would be met with a firm response to protect its territory and citizens.
The Ministry also rejected claims by the Interim Afghan Foreign Minister, labeling them as attempts to deflect attention from terrorist activities within Afghanistan. Pakistan called on the Taliban regime to fulfill its obligations to regional peace and stability, as documented in UN reports.
Pakistan highlighted the shared fight against terrorism, urging the Taliban to prevent their territory from being used for hostile activities. It reiterated its concerns about the presence of terrorist groups operating from Afghan soil and called for verifiable actions against these elements.
Citing its long history of hosting Afghan nationals, Pakistan pledged to regulate their presence in accordance with international norms. The statement concluded with a call for Afghanistan to become a peaceful, stable, and prosperous nation, governed by a representative government.
