Islamabad: Pakistan officially dismissed India’s recent assertions over the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, labeling them as inaccurate and potentially hazardous, and called for a meaningful dialogue adhering to United Nations resolutions.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Foreign Office Spokesperson responded to queries about a statement from India’s Minister for External Affairs regarding Jammu and Kashmir. The spokesperson clarified that the dispute remains an internationally recognized issue that should be settled through the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions and respecting the desires of the Kashmiri populace.
The spokesperson expressed Pakistan’s dedication to resolving issues through diplomacy and dialogue, cautioning that any aggressive maneuvers from the opposing side would be countered with steadfast determination. The recent comments from India were termed as “provocative rhetoric” concerning Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), with a call for India to shift focus towards constructive discussions aimed at a fair and enduring solution.
The statement stressed that enduring peace and stability in South Asia hinge on a resolution that aligns with the UNSC mandates and the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people, dismissing any unilateral actions in IIOJK by India as ineffective in altering the established reality.
