Islamabad, December 04, 2021 (PPI-OT):Pakistan has reiterated its commitment to implement the 27 International Conventions covered under the European Union’s preferential trade scheme. The assurance was given by Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood while leading the Pakistan side during the 7th Round of Pakistan-EU Political Dialogue held in virtual format.
The Foreign Secretary expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of Pakistan’s bilateral relations with the European Union and reiterated the country’s resolve to further deepen cooperation with the EU in diverse areas. The Dialogue covered broad range of subjects relating to bilateral relations, including the comprehensive implementation of Pakistan-EU Strategic Engagement Plan, and regional and international developments.
The Foreign Secretary conveyed Pakistan’s position on the new legislative proposals of the European Commission relating to the Generalized System of Preferences-Plus. Deputy Secretary General of the European External Action Service, Enrique Mora, who headed the EU delegation, appreciated continued Pakistan-EU engagements, including holding of various dialogues despite challenges of Covid-19 Pandemic.
