Islamabad, Foreign Office Spokesperson, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, affirmed today that Pakistan will remain steadfast in its political, moral, and diplomatic backing of the Kashmiri people’s quest for self-determination, in line with the UN Security Council resolutions.
According to a news release by Kashmir Media Service, during her weekly briefing in Islamabad, Spokesperson Baloch emphasized that Pakistan has consistently advocated for peace and dialogue, especially regarding the contested territory of Jammu and Kashmir. She underscored that the inhabitants of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) have not and will not accept the unauthorized annexation of their region by India. Furthermore, Baloch stressed the importance of the region’s residents living in peace without any form of harassment.
Switching focus to the Middle East, Baloch expressed hopes that the forthcoming special emergency session of the UN General Assembly would decisively address the ongoing conflict in Gaza. She voiced disappointment at the UN Security Council’s inability to mandate a ceasefire, despite the escalating Palestinian casualties and apparent breaches of international humanitarian principles by Israel.
The Spokesperson firmly reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian community. She called upon allies of Israel to intervene, aiming to halt the apparent atrocities against Palestinians and work towards lifting the Gaza blockade.
In conclusion, Baloch emphasized that lasting peace in the Middle East hinges on the two-state solution. This includes establishing a secure and viable Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al Sharif as its capital.
