Pakistan Reiterates Commitment to NAM Principles at 19th Summit in Kampala


Islamabad, In a significant address at the 19th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit in Kampala, Uganda, Pakistan’s Additional Foreign Secretary (United Nations) Ambassador Syed Haider Shah highlighted the country’s unwavering dedication to the Movement’s core values and its support for global peace, equality, and cooperation.



According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Shah emphasized the need for effective international collaboration to address the complex global challenges of today. He stressed the importance of reforming the financial, trade, and technology systems to foster balanced and sustainable socio-economic growth, especially in developing nations. This stance aligns with Pakistan’s longstanding approach to international diplomacy and economic development.



In his statement, the Additional Foreign Secretary also focused on the urgency of resolving the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. He urged for a solution in line with the United Nations Security Council’s resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, reaffirming Pakistan’s position on this long-standing issue.



Ambassador Haider Shah led the Pakistani delegation to the NAM Summit, stepping in for Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani, who had to shorten his official visit due to recent developments. The delegation’s participation and the contents of the national statement at the Summit reflect Pakistan’s active engagement and consistent policy in the international arena, particularly within the NAM framework.



The 19th NAM Summit, a gathering of countries not formally aligned with any major power bloc, provided a platform for member states to discuss and collaborate on a wide range of international issues, with a focus on promoting peace and development. Pakistan’s participation and the emphasis on collaborative efforts for socio-economic growth underscore its commitment to multilateralism and international cooperation.
