Islamabad: Federal Minister for Housing and Works, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, received the bodies of six Pakistanis who died in a boat accident in Libya earlier this month. The remains were part of a group of sixteen fatalities from the February 5 incident. The bodies were transported to Islamabad Airport through special arrangements.
According to a statement by Press Information Department, the minister offered prayers for the deceased and conveyed condolences to their families. He emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting the grieving families and assured that efforts are ongoing to repatriate the remaining bodies.
The minister noted that the Pakistani embassy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation have been actively involved in the repatriation process. He mentioned that arrangements are underway to return the 37 surviving Pakistanis from Libya.
Pirzada highlighted the dangers of illegal migration and urged young people to seek legal avenues for traveling abroad. He pointed to government programs focused on skill development and employment opportunities to prevent such tragic incidents.
In response to inquiries, the minister stated that the government is collaborating with Libyan authorities and international organizations to investigate the accident and combat human trafficking. He called for action against those responsible for such perilous journeys.
Pirzada expressed his sympathy for the families of the deceased and prayed for the departed souls.
