Islamabad, The Foreign Office of Pakistan has responded to criticisms from certain countries and organizations regarding the conduct of its recent general elections, defending the process as free, fair, and peaceful despite facing significant security threats.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch expressed surprise and concern over the negative remarks, highlighting that such comments failed to recognize the complexity of the electoral process and the enthusiastic participation of millions of Pakistani voters. Baloch pointed out that the criticism overlooked Pakistan’s achievement in successfully holding general elections under the shadow of foreign-sponsored terrorism.

Baloch refuted claims of a nationwide internet shutdown, clarifying that only mobile services were temporarily suspended on election day to prevent terrorist incidents, a measure that underscores the government’s priority on ensuring public safety during the electoral process.

The spokesperson emphasized that Pakistan’s commitment to democratic values and principles guided the decision to proceed with the elections, aiming to strengthen the country’s democratic infrastructure and societal stability. She argued that premature and negative judgments are neither constructive nor reflective of the objective reality on the ground.

Pakistan, Baloch asserted, remains dedicated to fostering a vibrant democracy, viewing every election and peaceful transition of power as steps toward realizing the aspirations of its people and fulfilling the vision of its founding fathers. The Foreign Office’s statement serves as a reaffirmation of Pakistan’s resolve to continue its democratic journey, undeterred by external criticisms.
