NEW YORK: Pakistan has reiterated its unwavering support for the One-China Principle, emphasizing its strong ties with the People’s Republic of China. The statement was delivered by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, during a seminar at the UN headquarters.
Ambassador Ahmad highlighted the 1971 decision to restore China’s place in the United Nations as a pivotal moment in multilateral diplomacy. He described it as a critical act of historical justice, recognizing the Government of the People’s Republic of China as the sole legitimate representative of China.
In his remarks, Ambassador Ahmad underscored that the historic restoration affirmed Taiwan as an inseparable part of China, reinforcing its status as an integral component of the nation.
He further expressed Pakistan’s satisfaction with its enduring friendship with China and commended China’s commitment to international cooperation. Ambassador Ahmad acknowledged China’s efforts to revitalize multilateral diplomacy and enhance global collaboration.
