Pakistan Reaffirms Support for Kashmiris on 77th Kashmir Black Day

Ottawa: The High Commission of Pakistan in Canada marked the 77th anniversary of Kashmir Black Day with solemn observances and a series of events across Canada to highlight the plight of the people in Jammu and Kashmir. The day commemorates the date of October 27, 1947, when India first occupied the region, an action Pakistan and many Kashmiris deem illegal.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Acting High Commissioner Mr. Faisal Kakar delivered remarks reasserting Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri struggle for self-determination and human rights, which have been compromised under Indian forces’ control. He emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to continuously champion the Kashmir cause on international platforms including the United Nations.

The main event in Ottawa featured a photo exhibition and a documentary screening detailing human rights violations in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which was attended by Canadians of Pakistani origin and other supporters of the Kashmir cause. Similar activities were held by the Pakistani Consulates in Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver, including seminars and the distribution of aide-memoires focused on the human rights situation in IIOJK.

These initiatives underscore Pakistan’s dedication to advocating internationally for the Kashmiri people and drawing attention to their ongoing struggles.
