Pakistan Reaffirms Support for Kashmir, Appeals to International Community for Intervention

Karachi, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, in a recent press briefing, reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to providing continuous moral, political, and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people. This statement comes amidst ongoing efforts to seek a just and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute in line with UN Security Council resolutions.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the Foreign Office Spokesperson highlighted Pakistan’s proactive measures in bringing international attention to the Kashmir issue. This included reaching out to the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the European Union, especially concerning the recent decision by the Indian Supreme Court on Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani, in his correspondence with international leadership, emphasized the illegality of the recent decision related to Jammu and Kashmir. He stressed that domestic legislation and judicial rulings cannot alter the status of a territory internationally recognized as disputed. These letters underscored the necessity for international intervention in the matter.

The Foreign Office Spokesperson revealed that the Foreign Minister urged the United Nations Security Council to fully implement its resolutions regarding the Kashmir dispute. He called on India to cease human rights violations in the occupied territory and to revoke all its illegal and unilateral actions taken on 5 August 2019.

Pakistan’s active diplomatic engagement on the Kashmir issue signifies its unwavering support for the Kashmiri cause and its determination to seek a peaceful resolution in accordance with international law and United Nations resolutions.
