Pakistan Reaffirms Support for Iran Amid Regional Tensions

Istanbul: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, emphasizing the country’s right to self-defense as outlined in the United Nations Charter. This declaration was made during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on the sidelines of the 51st session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Council of Foreign Ministers in Istanbul.

In a statement posted on X, Dar criticized the actions of Israel and the United States, condemning what he described as Israel’s unjustified attacks on Iran and the U.S. strikes targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities. The meeting provided a platform for Araghchi to share Iran’s perspective on the evolving regional dynamics.

In addition to his discussions with Iran, Dar also engaged in a meeting with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty. The talks focused on the deep-rooted ties between Pakistan and Egypt, bilateral cooperation, and pressing regional issues, including the situation in Gaza and recent attacks on Iran.

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to advancing shared goals at bilateral, regional, and multilateral levels, pledging to continue collaborative efforts for peace and regional security. The meetings underscore Pakistan’s active diplomatic engagement amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
