Pakistan Reaffirms Strong Defense Ties with Iraq

Islamabad, Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif met with Iraqi Ambassador Hamid Abbas Lafta in Islamabad today, affirming Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing its relationship with Iraq, particularly in defense and military training.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Asif emphasized the importance Pakistan places on its relations with Iraq, expressing a desire to expand cooperation across various fields, especially defense. He highlighted Pakistan’s advanced training facilities and infrastructure, which are utilized by numerous countries for counter-terrorism training, and invited Iraq to further avail these services.

The Defense Minister reiterated Pakistan’s support for the sovereignty, political unity, and territorial integrity of Iraq. In response, Ambassador Lafta reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Pakistan, particularly in defense cooperation.
