Pakistan Reaffirms Strong Bilateral Ties with Iran


Islamabad, Federal Minister for Housing and Works, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, met with the Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Reza Amiri Moghaddam, to discuss various bilateral issues, underscoring the deep mutual respect and cooperation between the two nations.



According to Press Information Department, Minister Pirzada emphasized the significant importance Pakistan places on its relationship with Iran, marked by trust and mutual understanding. He expressed honor in welcoming and accompanying Iranian President Ayatollah Ibrahim Raisi during his recent visit to Pakistan, highlighting the strong diplomatic engagements that continue to strengthen the ties between the two countries.



The meeting also focused on the shared commitment of both nations to support the rights of the people in Kashmir and Palestine, with both countries maintaining a consistent stance on these critical global issues. Minister Pirzada commended Iran’s principled stand on Palestine, particularly noting the silence from other global human rights advocates regarding the ongoing humanitarian crisis there.



Significant diplomatic activities were discussed, including the recent high-level exchanges that have positively impacted the bilateral relations. The Minister informed the Ambassador that the Iranian President’s message had been conveyed to Pakistan’s Prime Minister and shared with the Pakistani people during a speech in the National Assembly.



Ambassador Moghaddam appreciated the efforts made by Pakistan to facilitate the Iranian President’s visit and highlighted the successful outcomes of this visit, such as the agreement on the release and transfer of Pakistani prisoners from Iran. He also expressed hope for reciprocal actions from Pakistan regarding Iranian prisoners.



Moreover, the Ambassador affirmed Iran’s support for Pakistani pilgrims visiting holy sites in Iran, emphasizing that they could use their own buses for travel, ensuring their security and comfort.



The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their dedication to further enhancing the bilateral relationship and expanding cooperation across various sectors for mutual benefit. Attendees included Muhammad Ashfaq Ghumman, Additional Secretary Housing, and other officers from the Iranian embassy.
