Pakistan Reaffirms Dedication to Regional Stability Amid Tensions

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar has reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and security, emphasizing the nation’s right to protect its sovereignty and national interests.

This statement followed a telephone discussion with Malaysian Foreign Minister Dato Seri Mohamad Hasan, during which Dar briefed Hasan on current regional developments. The conversation highlighted concerns over India’s recent actions, which Dar described as provocative.

Dar firmly rejected India’s accusations and inflammatory rhetoric, specifically criticizing India’s decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty. He labeled this move as a breach of the treaty’s provisions and a violation of international legal obligations.

In response, Malaysian Foreign Minister Hasan expressed support for Pakistan’s stance and urged all involved parties to exercise restraint. The two leaders agreed on the importance of maintaining close contact as the situation evolves.
