Islamabad: Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions, Engineer Amir Maqam, asserted in the Senate on Monday that Pakistan will persist in its support for Kashmir until the region achieves freedom in line with United Nations resolutions.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Amir Maqam highlighted the enduring hardships faced by Kashmiris under Indian rule since 1947, noting the significant loss of life in their quest for independence. He marked August 5, 2019, as a particularly grim milestone, when India revoked Articles 370 and 35-A, stripping Kashmir of its special status and facilitating the settlement of non-Kashmiris to consolidate its control.
The minister emphasized Pakistan’s demand for Kashmiri self-determination as stipulated by United Nations mandates. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s solidarity with the Kashmiri people, pledging continued support until a peaceful resolution is achieved.
