Islamabad: The people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) continue to exercise their civil and political rights freely, engaging actively in shaping their democratic future. Pakistan remains committed to upholding their dignity, safeguarding their rights, including the right to peaceful assembly and protest, and advancing their socio-economic development. This stance is framed as both a constitutional responsibility and a moral obligation to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Conversely, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has highlighted the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), where residents reportedly endure significant human rights violations under occupation. The use of force, restrictions on freedom, and systematic oppression are cited as methods used by the Indian state to suppress the Kashmiri people’s struggle.
Efforts to silence dissent and the denial of civil liberties are noted as ongoing issues. The Ministry suggests that India should focus on fulfilling its international obligations and respecting UN Charter principles, particularly the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination as stated in United Nations Security Council resolutions.
The statement underscores Pakistan’s belief that peace and stability in South Asia hinge on resolving the Kashmir dispute.
