Pakistan Reaffirms Commitment to Kashmiri Self-Determination, Says Minister Tarar

Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, alongside Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Amir Muqam, has reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination in the face of Indian occupation.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during a joint news conference in Islamabad, Tarar emphasized Pakistan’s continuous moral, political, and diplomatic backing for Kashmiris. He highlighted ongoing human rights violations by India, including illegal detentions and enforced disappearances in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Tarar also referenced Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s address to the UN General Assembly, where he advocated for the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.

The ministers declared that Pakistan would persist in supporting the Kashmiri freedom struggle until their rights, including the restoration of Kashmir’s special status, which was revoked by India on August 5, 2019, are fully recognized. Amir Muqam added that despite severe oppression, the Kashmiri people remain resolute in rejecting Indian rule and have continued to make significant sacrifices.

The conference also noted that under the direction of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, special ceremonies were held across Pakistan, including in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, to mark Youm-e-Istehsal and bring international attention to the plight of Kashmiris under Indian forces.
