Pakistan Reaffirms Commitment To Bolster Commonwealth’s Role In Addressing Global Issues

Islamabad: Pakistan on Tuesday reiterated its dedication to enhancing the Commonwealth’s function in tackling worldwide issues and promoting shared prosperity. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar spoke at the Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting (CFAMM).

Welcoming the Secretary-General to her initial CFAMM since taking office in April 2025, Dar praised her work in expediting the implementation of CHOGM-2024 results and furthering reforms to revitalize the organization.

Dar emphasized the significance of the forum as a venue for discussion, peacebuilding, and collaboration in the face of interconnected worldwide crises such as conflicts, environmental shifts, economic fragility, and innovative technologies.

“The environmental emergency is an existential danger to numerous members. Pakistan, as one of the most climate-vulnerable nations, has encountered this reality firsthand,” Dar stated, urging sustained attention on environmental measures, modification, funding, and resilience development across the Commonwealth.

He also highlighted Pakistan’s guidance in progressing the Commonwealth’s youth initiatives, technological change, commerce, and business creation. “Our youth must be empowered to create a more affluent and tranquil future,” he stressed, while reiterating Pakistan’s part in propelling the Commonwealth Connectivity Agenda to reinforce technological, tangible, regulatory, and supply network connections among constituents.

Concluding his address, Dar underscored Pakistan’s willingness to collaborate closely with the Secretary-General and all member states to advance harmony, enduring progress, environmental flexibility, and inclusive expansion, guaranteeing that the Commonwealth maintains its impact and significance for coming generations.
