New York: Pakistan has brought international attention to the challenges faced by women in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine, highlighting their suffering at the United Nations Security Council.
During an open debate on Women, Peace and Security, Counsellor Saima Saleem from Pakistan’s Mission to the United Nations expressed disappointment that the Secretary-General’s report failed to mention the struggles of Kashmiri women. She emphasized that these women have been subjected to sexual violence throughout the decades-long occupation, which has been used as a tactic of war.
In a response to comments from an Indian delegate, Pakistani representative Sarfraz Ahmad Gohar criticized the Hindutva ideology in India. He stated that this ideology has become a state policy, leading to the persecution of Muslims, Christians, Dalits, and other minority groups without consequence.
The Pakistani delegation’s remarks were reported by Radio Pakistan, underscoring the ongoing concerns about human rights violations in the contested regions.
