New York: Pakistan has raised alarms over the acquisition and deployment of advanced illicit weaponry by terrorist factions, including Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, the Balochistan Liberation Army, and the Majeed Brigade.

The concerns were articulated by Syed Atif Raza, a Counsellor at the Pakistan Mission, during a national statement at a United Nations Security Council meeting.

Raza highlighted that terrorist groups have obtained sophisticated arms abandoned in Afghanistan, which are now being utilized against Pakistani civilians and military forces.

He urged international collaborators to intervene by recovering the substantial stockpile of these abandoned weapons. Additionally, he called for measures to restrict these arms from reaching terrorist groups and to dismantle the black market that facilitates their distribution.

The statement underscores the ongoing challenges faced by Pakistan in curbing the flow of illicit arms within the region, a situation exacerbated by the geopolitical dynamics in Afghanistan.
