Islamabad: In a significant move aimed at transforming Pakistan Railways, Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi announced a series of measures in line with directives from the Prime Minister. These measures are designed to address systemic issues and enhance performance.
During a meeting, Abbasi outlined plans to tackle corruption and inefficiency within Pakistan Railways. He stressed the need for transparency and accountability, stating that the Vigilance Department will be further empowered to hold individuals accountable for any misconduct.
Abbasi highlighted the importance of employee rights, emphasizing that the development of the workforce is crucial for national progress. He assured measures to protect employee rights and underscored a commitment to eliminating nepotism and incompetence within the organization.
The Minister also emphasized the significance of punctual train services, instructing divisional superintendents to prioritize timely arrivals to maintain public trust and system credibility.
To ensure transparency in procurement processes, Abbasi announced that third-party evaluations will be conducted. He also addressed passenger welfare, promising improvements in cleanliness and food quality on trains.
The Federal Minister projected that through these initiatives, corruption and inefficiencies will be eradicated within months, marking a new era for Pakistan Railways.
