Pakistan Railways Reports Significant Revenue Growth, Senate Informed

Islamabad, The Senate was briefed today that Pakistan Railways has garnered over forty billion rupees in revenue in the first half of the current fiscal year. This update was provided during the Question Hour by the Minister for Law and Justice, Azam Nazeer Tarar.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Tarar further highlighted that the revenue for Pakistan Railways had risen to 63.250 billion rupees during the last fiscal year. Despite this substantial increase, the minister emphasized the importance of cutting non-development expenditures to further improve the financial health of this national institution. He also underscored the necessity of enhancing the quality of railway tracks to ensure better services.

In response to additional queries, Minister Tarar noted a decrease in rail accidents in recent years, attributing this improvement to ongoing safety measures. He also mentioned several ongoing projects aimed at enhancing transportation facilities in the federal capital, including the operation of the Metro Bus service from Saddar to the Pak Secretariat and three public transport routes that commenced in 2022.
