Lahore: Pakistan Railways has announced that five of its luxury saloon coaches, once reserved for high-ranking officials such as the Prime Minister and federal ministers, will now be available for booking by the general public. The initiative seeks to provide premium travel experiences to ordinary citizens while optimizing the use of existing railway resources.
A spokesperson for Pakistan Railways stated that this move aligns with the government’s commitment to enhancing public transport services without raising costs. To ensure broader accessibility, fares for these luxury saloons have been set at an affordable rate, reflecting the government’s intent to improve service quality in public transport systems.
The luxury saloons, previously designated for exclusive use by officials including the Chairman of Pakistan Railways, the Chief Executive Officer, and the Inspector General of Railways, are now open to any passenger interested in experiencing premium railway travel.
This decision highlights a shift in policy towards more inclusive utilization of railway assets, aiming to make luxury travel services accessible to a wider segment of the population.
