Islamabad: Pakistan is ramping up its preparations to assume the Chairmanship of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) for 2026-27. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar led a meeting in Islamabad to review the country’s readiness for hosting the summit in 2027.
According to Radio Pakistan, Dar assessed the ongoing preparatory efforts and instructed relevant ministries and departments to engage in detailed planning and coordination. He emphasized the importance of ensuring a successful summit that would underscore Pakistan’s dedication to regional cooperation and multilateral engagement through the SCO framework.
Dar highlighted Pakistan’s role as a significant regional player and reiterated the need for timely execution and effective inter-agency collaboration. He called for high standards in both logistical and substantive preparations to reflect Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening regional ties and connectivity.
