Pakistan Prime Minister Outlines Comprehensive Sector Reforms

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif outlined a comprehensive plan for sweeping reforms across various economic sectors, developed in collaboration with provincial governments.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during a Federal Cabinet meeting held today, Prime Minister Sharif emphasized reforms in the power sector, agriculture, the digitalization of the Federal Board of Revenue, and commerce and trade. He clarified that the recent electricity subsidy package announced by the Punjab government was funded solely from the provincial budget, with no federal contributions.

Additionally, he highlighted a significant federal initiative in collaboration with the Balochistan government, involving the conversion of 28,000 tubewells to solar energy, a project worth seventy billion rupees with the federal government contributing fifty-five billion. Sharif also noted a significant reduction in inflation, which has dropped to the lowest rate in three years, currently at eleven percent down from thirty-eight percent. The Cabinet also paid respects to the victims of recent flash floods and rains during the meeting.
