Pakistan Prime Minister Focuses on Digital Initiatives to Boost Foreign Exchange Inflows

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif today underscored his government’s commitment to enhancing foreign exchange inflows through digital advancements, in a meeting with Fahad M. Alturki, Chairperson of the Arab Monetary Fund.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister detailed the government’s focus on digitizing the economy and expanding the e-commerce sector. A significant part of this strategy involves the Buna-Raast connectivity project, a collaborative effort with the Arab world aimed at improving digital transactions and remittance flows into Pakistan.

Prime Minister Sharif highlighted the Buna-Raast project as a crucial development that will not only streamline digital transactions within Pakistan but also enhance the management of remittances and digital governance. He emphasized that this initiative reflects a shared vision with the Arab world, specifically designed to facilitate Pakistani expatriates in sending remittances home more efficiently.

Fahad M. Alturki remarked on Pakistan’s unique position as the first non-Arab country to join the Buna-Raast project, noting that the economic cooperation fostered by this initiative is expected to yield mutual development benefits through enhanced trust and collaboration.
