Pakistan Prime Minister Bans New Year Celebrations in Solidarity with Palestine

Karachi, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar of Pakistan has announced a ban on all New Year celebrations across the country as a gesture of solidarity with the people of Palestine. This decision reflects Pakistan’s support for the Palestinian cause amidst ongoing conflicts and humanitarian crises in the region.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in a special video message, the Prime Minister urged the people of Pakistan to observe simplicity on New Year’s Eve to stand in solidarity with the oppressed people of Gaza. He emphasized the gravity of the situation in Palestine, highlighting the devastating impact of the Israeli forces’ actions, particularly the high number of Palestinian casualties, including children, since October this year.

Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar stated that Pakistan, as part of the Muslim Ummah, feels a deep sense of grief over the ongoing violence and the loss of innocent lives in Palestine. He pointed out that more than 21,000 Palestinians, including around nine thousand children, have fallen victim to what he termed Israeli barbarism.

The Prime Minister also mentioned Pakistan’s proactive efforts in supporting the Palestinian people. He noted that Pakistan has voiced its concern for Palestine at various international forums and will continue to do so. The country has already dispatched two consignments of relief goods to assist the Palestinians, with a third consignment set to be sent soon. Additionally, he mentioned that Pakistan is working closely with Egypt and Jordan to facilitate aid and medical treatment for the injured from Gaza.

In his message, the Prime Minister concluded with a prayer for peace and prosperity in Pakistan and the world in the coming year. This move by the Pakistani government is a significant expression of its foreign policy and humanitarian stance, underlining its commitment to international solidarity and support for oppressed communities.
