Islamabad, Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja announced that preparations are underway to launch 5G services in Pakistan, aimed at enhancing the digital economy and creating significant employment opportunities in the IT sector. The announcement was made during a ceremony marking World Telecommunication and Information Society Day.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the introduction of 5G is expected to open up new prospects for the country’s youth by facilitating advanced telecommunications and IT services. Minister Khawaja also highlighted a five billion rupee allocation for youth skill development and discussed partnerships with optic fiber manufacturers to increase exports, underscoring the sector’s vast potential. She noted that thirty-five companies are currently manufacturing mobile phones in Pakistan, with efforts ongoing to boost their exports as well.
