Pakistan Prepares to Host Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Islamabad

Islamabad: Pakistan is poised to host the forthcoming meeting of the Council of the Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) this Tuesday and Wednesday, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. The summit will gather leaders and top officials from member states and observer countries to discuss cooperation across various sectors.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting will see participation from the prime ministers of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, along with the First Vice President of Iran and the External Affairs Minister of India. Premier of the State Council of China, Li Qiang, will represent China, while the Prime Minister of Mongolia, an observer state, and the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan, attending as a special guest, will also participate.

The agenda for the SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting will focus on enhancing ongoing cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, environment, and socio-cultural linkages, as well as reviewing the performance of the organization. Alongside the main sessions, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to conduct significant bilateral meetings with the visiting heads of delegations.
